I don't know if anyone else has read these books but IMO they are in a class with GRRM and RJ. I believe Prince of Dogs is the first book. I recommend picking it up if you are in need of a few pages to turn. Let me know what you think.

Yeah actually. I reviewed 'The Gathering Storm' awhile ago, I was surprised that it was out already - I must have missed it.

I liked the series, much more in it's infancy, like the first two books, than the last two. It's good, but I don't think Kate has the flair for character that Jordan and Martin do. Alain and Liath have seemed to have lost the development they had in the first two books. In addition, the intrigue and general plot elements just aren't as interesting for me as several other series.

That's at least my take on it, I can fully understand how someone could see it pretty differently

Just a quick note for anyone looking, 'King's Dragon' is actually the first book, with 'Prince of Dogs' the second one.
