Hey everyone-
SciFi has entered into agreement with the Jim Henson company to produce a new Farscape miniseries. The miniseries will pick where the series left off (Crichton and Aeryn Sun seperated from the crew of Moya, apparently dead) and will move forward from there. At the very least, SciFi is tying up some of the loose plot lines from when they abruptly cancelled the show. SciFi places alot of stock in how well a miniseries performs (ie, Battlestar Galactica) and if the Farscape mini is very well received, it is entirely possible for SciFi to pick it back up as a normal series again.

At the very least, though, we get a Farscape miniseries, which deals with the plot threads that were left dangling - THANK YOU, SciFi.

Ahhhh, so it'll be finishing up the plot? That sounds like a stand-up thing to do. Not that I ever saw Farscape.

Why doesn't sci-fi pick up 'Firefly'? Make them do your bidding Ryan. Flex some of that muscle!

Actually, Universal is producing a Firefly movie right now. Or, rather, its in production...

Anyway, the movie is titled Serenity, and Joss Whedon is writing and directing it. From IMDb's posting:

quote:
The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, "Serenity." He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family -- squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers -- a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister -- he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board "Serenity" herself.

Glancing through the cast list, Shepherd Book (Ron Glass) is notable in his absence - a shame, as he brought a certain quality to the show.

Anyways, while I hope that the movie will be 'uncharted space' for Firefly, some of what I am reading almost makes it sound like a rehashing of what occurred in the series. Either way, I'm still looking forward to this movie. Hell yes! Now get out there and buy yourself the series boxed set!

I find it funny considering Farscape was originally made for and by Channel 9 in Australia.

I make a new vow, one weighed in experience and proclaimed with my eyes open: I will not raise my scimitars except in defense: in defense of my principles, of my life, or of others who cannot defend themselves. I will not do battle to further the causes of false prophets, to further the treasures of kings, or to avenge my own injured pride.

If they're going to bring stuff back, how about 'Space: Above and Beyond' or 'Firefly'. Instead we get saddled with more Farscape. I'm surprised anyone wanted it in the first place!

Never saw Farscape, and I saw an episode or two of 'Above and Beyond'. Reminded me kind of Wing Commander Seemed lacking in substance however. Firefly was good though... very good. Pity it only got one season. I haven't even seen all of it.

/me winks at Ryan.

I think this is really great. Farscape rocks! I didnt watch it at first but it came on right before SG1 on friday night so I caught a few. Hope it is back. If nothing else we should all learn from this. If your favorite show gets cancelled take action send in those letters. According to the Farscape site thats why it is happening, I think thats great.

Thanks Ryan

I saw an episode of John Doe when I was still awake at 1am one morning. It looked like an interesting series.
