I saw some people talking about music in a diff thread, and I decided to list a few of my fav bands here. I would like to see if some of you people have heard of them and could give me some insite to some more groups like them. Some of my fav groups are (not in any order) Slipknot, Hatebreed, Coal Chamber and Slaves on Dope. I left out the bigger groups like Korn and the like because damn near everyone already knows about them.

Well, can't say I dig any of those, "cookie monster vocals" aren't my thing, but I'll follow suit with a definitely not all encompassing list: Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Dream Theatre, Tool, The Smiths, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Danzig, Ryan Adams, Wilco, etc...there's a lot more, but I'm not really liking the idea of listing every band in my CD collection...would take far too long =(

Yeah, Ryan Adam's kicks ass. I don't like his new disc so much, It's a little to Rock'n'Rolly, which is too be expected, given the title - but still not all that appreciated by me

I listen to whatever's on the radio most of the time but I really like Floyd, Handel can be good if you're in the mood for it...

what else...

Kraftwerks, dc Talk, P.O.D., Enigma & others

I listen to anything. 'cept bad rap and bad country.

It took a long time for "Rock N Roll" to grow on me, but it really does have some damn good tracks. The two "Love Is Hell" EPs are probably better though. And from what I hear, Adams is working with James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle), Mellissa Auf Der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) and some guy from the Lemonheads in a band called the "Fucking Virgins"...should be interesting.

Like, Handel the classical guy?

Yeah, I like a few songs on Rock'n'Roll, 'Note to Self' kicks ass, but i didn't really give it all that much time to grow on me.

I like older pumpkins a ton, and Tool/Perfect Circle are amazingly good...

i just bought my first rock cd a while back and i actually enjoyed it. Anyone heard of the The Used. most of my friends think i've lost my marbles, but i don't care they're a good band.

I mainly listen to oldies like gap band, silk, h-town, blackstreet (2nd cd) and pretty much all old r&b and some rap. i only listen to hard core rap like yukemouth, k...tay, bullyswithfullies from my home-town straight out of cali, but not a lot. I listen to a lot of classical too. it soothes my mind after a hards day full of trials and tribulations, especailly when i'm driving.

my favorite bands are (no particular order here):

Disturbed(both albums kick serious ass), Drowning Pool, Stabbing Westward, the Offspring, SR-71, the Beastie Boys, oh and Breaking Benjamin

but I am at college and in between classes, I will post a few more once I have a look at my cd's when I get home

oh I almost forgot, The Used are very popular here in Sacramento, and if you like classical you should do two things, you need to pick up a Trans-Siberian Orchestra cd and you should check with a local comic store cause some games like the Final Fantasy series have excellent orchestrated soundtracks, but check for the ones that say remastered or something similar cause a few of the originals are ripped straight from the games themselves and wind up sounding like crap

Ahhh, yeh Mordeth.

I like some cool orchestra type soundtracks, be they from movies, or games, what have you. Good call about Final Fantasy, especially, 'One-Winged Angel', I believe. Hard to find though.

I used to like stabbing westward, haven't heard anything by them for a long time. Didn't like the single i heard from Drowning Pool...

Drowning Pool did the song "Bodies" right? It wasn't my cup of tea...though the Pumpkins had a tune of the same name on Mellon Collie...it ruled.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is badass. And "Liberi Fatali" on the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack is fantastic as well. "One Winged Angel"...well...suffice it to say that I shelled out 30 bucks for an import of the FFVII soundtrack for that song alone pretty much heh...

I used to listen to Stabbing Westward...still do on occasion I suppose...I love "I Remember"...but I thought they broke up? or maybe I'm wrong...

If you like movie score style music you should check out John Williams, he did almost every score that's worth listening to. Star Wars (duel of the fates), Jaws, Jurassic Park, .....

I've also got Also Sprach Zarathustra (Space Odyssey 2001) by Tchaicovsky. The opening's really good but the rest of it is kinda weak.

I've got some FF sheet music for piano, it's really good although some of it is arranged weird.

You'll probably not agree with me on these, but Silverchair, Coldplay, Fat Boy Slim, Rammstein, And a lot of compilation CDs.

Ahhh, Coldplay is excellent, good point you got there. Fat Boy as well, and I have a soft spot for some Rammstein songs - but not really out of any mad respect for their musical talent. I just like the mad german music, and the very catchy hooks.

Atari Teenage Riot is *excellent* angry music!

Seems intriguing, I will have to give it a listen. Thanks for the link. I like Hip-Hop mainly, but a little older stuff, not the horrible & meaningless mess it's become. Like, Tupac, MOP, Westside Connection, Beatnuts, EPMD. Newer wise, almost all Nas, and a lot of Jay-Z is pretty good.

I do like a lot of John Williams, it's like almost every movie with a decent budget has John Williams Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and maybe another couple of guys doing the score. Seems like a real monopoly. It's amazing to think about how many good tracks those guys can lay down.

my favorite songs by drowning pool are sinner and tear away, eve 6 is another sweet band, a cool anime soundtrack is the one from Voices of a Distant Star, for techno i go with Darude, oh and while they're not techno Green Day is ausome

on another note I don't know what happened to Satbbing Westward but the drummer(or someone else) from Drowning Pool died a while ago

oh if you can find the song Red Tape by Agent Provocatour it is kinda a techno song that is pretty cool,

if any of you have an A-1 Comics near by they have most game and anime soundtracks that are very reasonably priced

So you say Atari Teenage Riot is a good angry band? I might have to give them a try. I am kind of surprised that no on has mentioned The Union Underground yet. Their whole cd is good. I noticed that the techno thing is sadly lacking. I could give some good songs, but all my cds are out in my truck and I'm too lazy to get them atm. Fast paced techno is best.

I didn't see your post when I posted. I get side tracked easily and it takes me longer than it should to post. Speaking of sidetracked, that's what I am now. $*#(%&* life! (turns comp off)
