So, I was talking with Aginor on instant messenger... well, actually I talk with him often on instant messenger. And this has been a recurring conversation.
Anyways, I'm starting at the end. Let me go to the beginning.
I read fanfiction. Lots and lots of fanfiction. The problem, I think, is that I read too much in general, more than my budget could possibly handle in conventional published media. I started out with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS) fanfic, mainly Xander-centric. That alone is funny because I've never been a big BtVS fan... after getting into the fanfic though, I've really started watching the series. My favorite series/universe here would be Tenhawk's JourneyVerse.
Of course, fanfic being fanfic, other realms were brought into the equation. I got into Highlander, for instance. I've always been into Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and those are occasional crosses. I loved Farscape and despaired when it was cancelled; there are a couple of decent stories there.
Lately however (within the past 3-4 months or so), its been Harry Potter fanfic. Straight fic, crossover fic, etc... I've read more HP than anything else for the past quarter or so. Many (Aginor, Mythral for example) maintain that this is a sign of 'madness'. Aginor has attempted to cure me with blunt force trauma over IP several times, to no avail.
So, my question to you is... is there nothing to be done? Am I too far gone? Or is this normal?
Also, if you read fanfic, what are your favorite authors and stories?
