Awhile back, in the suggestions thread, there was a lot of interest in the idea of graphical icons for users. We had scheduled avatar implementation in our next software overhaul, but we've found a bit of a loophole that allows us to use em with our current setup.
If you notice on the left, I've been playing around with them, and got a rough one up. The only drawback is that currently, only Administrator's can assign these icons. So, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the URL to your image, and i'll get it added.
A couple things:
1) The image will be used in lieu of your text description (ie, Disciple, Iniatite, or a custom one). You may want to include some text in your image.
2) Currently, you can have an image size up to and including 75x75 for square. For a vertical or horizontal banner, you can choose a height/width of up to 100, but the second dimension must be less than/equal to 75. I hope that makes sense.
3) Image size caps should be reasonable. If it's too large, it won't be posted. We're a little fuzzy on what constitutes too large, as the load will depend on how many people adopt avatars. Try and keep it around 5-10kb. Again, this may change.
4) If you don't have a place to host your image - If your known on the forums, then we can host it for you.
So, that's that. Until we get someone to handle these avatars, just send them to email@example.com , and i'll get them up ASAP.
