Why not post the name of the person doing the review, instead of saying it was reviewed by Dragonsworn Staff? Some of the reviews are just left field, and I dont think the entire staff should be blamed for these opinions. Ishy

I'm sure we dont all agree, I know I havent been around at all lately, and I know I never contributed anything, this is just a suggestion that Im sure has been made before. So forgive me please, just something I noticed and thought Id throw in there.

Heya Dave,

Great to see you on ins, been a while since we've seen your prestigous face

The answer to your question is very simple. First, a couple links though: Number 1 and Number 2.
The first review is by a one-time reviewer, and the second is by demandred, who has a few other reviews on board. In total, we have about 10 reviews that haven't been done by me.

The reason we choose the staff moniker? The same reason I say 'we' instead of 'I'. I wish I was royal, but I'm not. Dgn has always positioned itself as a respected and competent organization. This has allowed us access to resources that wouldn't be regularly available, such as our most recent interviews and a few upcoming ones, and our review agreements with a couple game companies.

The vast majority of our work has always been done by one or two, sometimes three people, with an infinite debt to our various hosts of the years - including knightskeep, iceheart, and of course the uncomparable yas, and most importantly - ryan.

When it comes to the relaunch however, we've been building an audience, and it's slow going. Essentially, the reason i sign off as 'dragonsworn staff' is I don't want people to get the impression that this is my personal website, and nothing else. At the time, I write all the content (with some notable exceptions) and design all the layouts/content, but I don't want to give the impression this is a one man show, or just a stage for me to vent my opinions. I understand some of my reviews my run very contrary to your outlook, but I think that any publication that publishes a single review is bound to ruffle some feathers. I'm sure that for every person who thinks I'm 'coming out of left field' as it were, there's another person who agrees with me.

Of course I could be wrong, but then I'll have to say it's my website .Seriously though, dgn has always been a group effort, and right now - we don't have the group. I'm sad to say we haven't attracted a dedicated staff - not for core shit, but for support work on the websites. And until such time as we do, my reviews will be flagged as 'staff', to promote and image of unity and competence.

I do want to make a note here that Mordeth has been chomping at the proverbial bit to get started on work for conception, and it's completely my fault that he hasn't had the chance. I apologise for this, but I just started work (egh), and I got a full time interest in buliding a CMS for dgn. I invite mr. death to recruit a staff and lay the groundwork... if anyone's so interested.

So yeah, that's my essay. [The Devil]

I think a cool addition to the reviews section would be the ability to get some sort of feedback from the readers.
It can be to let them add remarks or comment on the review.
Or just some poll-like option, I agree with the review, I don't agree, I don't know, I don't care, Leave me the hell alone, etc.

I think thats a great idea. Have the movie reviewed by dragonsworn staff and rated, then give the users an oppurtunity to give a brief review of the movie or book and rate the movie/book, like amazon does. That would have more than one end result too; it would first give the user a better idea of the movie not based solely on ishy's twisted standards ,
and it would also add more interactivity to the site. Everything I see says thats how a site lasts. Shamir, Is that a feasible idea at this point?

Lets take that a step further though. I for one would love to be able to comment on the one article we have. I'm sure others would as well. That wont raise post counts, but it might increase traffic and participation on the site.
Just an idea.

Yeah, good point, and we're all over it like stink on a monkey

The current plan is to allow users to give the reviewed item their own numerical score, and then we'll display and average of that below the 'official' rating, as it were.

In addition comments will be added, ideally they'll be posted on the board, and also displayed on the page. When users post a comment, it'll kick them into a new window opening on the specific topic for the given item on inspiration. At least, that's the idea
