Hey there. I'm new to the site and thought I'd say its wicked!
I was checking out the book reviews you have and wanted to know, will that picture of the Nostalgia for Infinity be availabe as a background soon? Because I love the Inhibitor Trilogy by Alistair Reynolds. I know that the pic is only an artists impression but I think its cool.
Just one last thing. Does anybody have a clue as to when Judas Unchained is suppost to be coming out here in the UK? Because the ending to Pandora's Star was such a cliffhanger.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Welcome to the boards Boris

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I had no idea what to draw for the feature, so I thought I'd go with the theme of the books, and try and make a cover. I think this one's closest to Chasm City, (or maybe it was revelation space). As you mentioned, it's *definitely* an artist's interpretation, as it's pretty wrong. In fact, from the man himself:

quote:
Nice picture - *very* nice in fact. No complaints from me.

I'll be honest and say that the NFI looks totally different
(completely different from the one on the original RS cover,
indeed) but I've never been one to get too upset about
these things. The original artist, Chris Moore, was given
only a tiny and incomplete description to work from. Since
then we've been a bit better coordinated, and the ships on
the cover art have looked more or less right, barring a few
details here and there.

I don't have a wallpaper image of it sitting around, but now that someone's shown interest, i'll totally whip one up. Let me know what kinda resolution you want, and if you'd like it customized (text wise) or recoloured.

I see we both like the same types of books I can't wait for Reynolds' Century Rain, and Peter Hamilton is of course the King. Pandora's Star was good, but not on the level of Night's Dawn. I believe 'Judas' is due out in a few months in the UK. If you like Hamilton/Reynolds, I encourage you to check out Richard Morgan, if you haven't already. You'll want to start with Altered Carbon, and if you like, you can check out my review here.

Again, great seeing on the board, and thank you so much for the kind words. I look forward to seeing you around ins again

Ish

Hey there Ish. Thanks for taking my recommendation up. I think the pic itself was just perfect, so i was after it in a 1024x768 (or higher) resolution if you could do it for us.
I'll also check out the other books that you recommended because Im running out of stuff to read in my collection. Also, cheers for telling me when Judas is coming out, even though, as you said, Pandoras Star wasn't as good as the other books Hamilton has brought out, which I agree. I still found it griping enough to warrant getting the second. Then again only having one book in the series would look stupid, wouldn't it?
Anyway, cheers for doing the pic and ill look forward to seeing it on my desktop.
Big up to you all!
